Geometry

Geometry Proofs, Made Logical.

Proofs, triangles, circles, area and volume, and the coordinate geometry that ties it back to algebra. Taught as logic, not memorization.

In short

Geometry tutoring is one-on-one help with proofs, parallel lines and angles, triangle congruence and similarity, right-triangle trigonometry, circles, area and volume, and coordinate geometry, taught as logic rather than memorization. It includes preparation for the Florida Geometry EOC, which counts as 30 percent of the course grade.

What we cover

What Sessions Cover

Taught from your child's actual class, in the order the class moves.

  • Two-column and paragraph proofs, built from the givens
  • Parallel lines, angles and triangle congruence
  • Similarity, right triangles and basic trigonometry
  • Circles: arcs, chords, tangents and sectors
  • Area, surface area and volume
  • Coordinate geometry and transformations
  • Florida Geometry EOC preparation
How we work

How We Work

  1. Draw it, label it, then prove it

Every problem starts with a clean figure. Most geometry errors are really reading errors, and the drawing fixes them.

  2. Proofs as a checklist

We build a short, repeatable routine for proofs so a blank page stops being scary.

  3. Keep the algebra warm

Geometry year is when algebra fades. Sessions keep both alive so Algebra 2 does not start from zero.

Questions

Questions About Geometry

Why do proofs feel so hard?

Because they are a new kind of thinking. Geometry is the first course that asks students to justify every step rather than compute an answer. We turn proofs into a short, repeatable routine: draw it, mark what you know, state what you want, then connect them.

Does the Geometry EOC affect graduation?

It counts as 30 percent of the Geometry course grade under Florida law. Unlike Algebra 1, a passing Geometry EOC score is not itself a graduation requirement, but the course credit is, so the exam still matters a great deal.

My child did fine in Algebra but is struggling in Geometry. Is that normal?

Very normal. Geometry rewards spatial reasoning and written logic more than procedure. The good news is that the skills are learnable, and we keep algebra warm at the same time so Algebra 2 does not start from zero.

Do I need a tablet for online geometry sessions?

It helps. A stylus or touchscreen makes drawing figures easier, but a mouse works, and I draw and label on the shared whiteboard for both of us either way.
