Why I tutor

Why I Tutor

I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a young age. I discovered tutoring by chance, and it quickly became one of my greatest passions.

In the classroom I teach high school Algebra, so I see every day exactly where students get stuck and what the tests actually ask. One on one, I get to slow down for the student in front of me: find the gap, work the steps out loud, and keep going until it makes sense.

My tutoring experience covers elementary math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Precalculus, College Algebra and advanced topics, including Florida end-of-course exam preparation. As a bilingual educator fluent in English and Spanish, I can support students and parents from many backgrounds and help every student feel confident in their own ability.

My goal is not only to improve grades but to help students believe in themselves. The grade follows.

How I work

How I Work

Four habits, every session, every subject.

  1. Start from the real class

Your child’s notes, assignments and graded tests set the agenda. I teach the method the class teaches, so what we practice is what gets tested.

  2. Work it out loud

I model a problem completely, with the reason for every step. Then your child drives while I ask the questions a test would ask.

  3. Name the mistake pattern

Most students repeat the same two or three errors. We find them, name them and build a quick check that catches them.

  4. Tell you what happened

After each session you get a plain summary: what we covered, what to practice this week and what is coming next in class.
